Mr. Hide’s Class

It’s the start of another exciting year in the computer room at the Fernie Academy.  This year, we have already begun a few collaborations with other schools.

Our kindergarten class has begun making self-portraits on Tux Paint, our painting program.  Soon they will be sharing their pictures with other kindergarten class in Florida, Massachusetts, Spain and Thailand in the KinderKids Draw! program.

A group of grade four students has begun the BlogPals project.  Each student has created and will maintain their own web log, or blog throughout the year in order to write and respond to a variety of topics.  Other schools that will be participating are from Thailand, Singapore, Spain, England, Austria, Australia and Qatar.   Take a look in the sidebar for links to our students’ blogs and links to the other schools.

Grade 8 is the first class to choose their Kiva member to sponsor.  They chose a woman in the Dominican Republic who requested a loan in order to open a beauty salon.  This woman wants to continue her education with the money she earns from her salon.  Click on the link in the sidebar to see the Fernie Academy’s profile.

Hi grade five! Here’s the link we will be using today to practice our keyboarding. Try to type without looing at the keyboard! We will be recording your speed at the end of today’s class to see how much faster you get over the year!
